The natural evolution of natural gas in the US

Posted by TransCanada

A cleaner choice for a nation looking to reduce its carbon footprint

We all know natural gas is a clean source of energy. But if you talk to our own Senior VP and GM for US natural gas pipelines, Stan Chapman, you’ll also learn that natural gas has huge economic benefits for the US.

According to Chapman, "Natural gas is at the forefront, leading economic growth, lowering energy costs for consumers, and driving energy independence for the United States."

The key, he notes, is the need for a stable and open regulatory climate, allowing for growth. "To stay on this path to prosperity, we need to create and maintain a regulatory climate that provides for stable, predictable regulation at all levels of government," he adds.

Accordingly, this climate must allow “for timely review and approval of new energy infrastructure."

At the 2016 Republican National Convention, Chapman explained that with a more open regulatory climate, America's own plentiful natural gas supplies will provide huge opportunities for prosperity within the country.

During his presentation at the panel, titled "The Energy Industry’s Role in Building a Better Future," he briefed the audience on how TransCanada's acquisition of Columbia Pipeline Group created one of North America's largest natural gas transmission companies, and he offered insight into how that benefits Americans and the economy.

Joining Chapman in the discussion was US Congressman Bill Johnson (OH), Marathon Petroleum President and CEO Gary Heminger and American Petroleum Institute President and CEO Jack Gerard.
