Dawson Creek, B.C. is surrounded by rich agricultural land. And while generations of successful harvests have provided an economic staple to the community, the town has also worked hard to embrace industry to ensure a diverse economy.

While TransCanada’s Groundbirch Pipeline went into service in Dawson Creek in 2010, we’ve collaborated with the city for nearly a decade. At our core, our business is about delivering – delivering energy and delivering on our commitments to communities. We have partnered with Dawson Creek to help the community achieve its goals by listening to their needs, providing economic benefit and jobs and investing in the projects and initiatives that matter most to Dawson Creek’s residents.

“TransCanada has really put the effort into engaging with our community. Ensuring that we and they have a relationship that we build upon. They understand what is really important to our community,” Mayor Dale Bumstead, the City of Dawson Creek.

Delivering on our commitments means local businesses see the benefits from our projects. Throughout the construction phase and afterwards into operation, Dawson Creek businesses will see significant economic benefits through local hiring and contracting initiatives.

But there is much more to partnerships than business. We also support and invest in the projects and initiatives that matter to you and your family.

Kindness meters

One visionary idea that came from the community was their innovative local Kindness Meters. These “meters,” made from repurposed parking meters, are designed to support local initiatives in Dawson Creek. The funds collected from these Kindness Meters are pooled and distributed evenly by City Council to different deserving local charities every six months.

“It’s such a different approach to fundraising,” Alisha Guild, Kindness Meters Advocate. She continues “I loved having my kids be a part of the campaign and to be present on the day when it launched. I think it’s so important for them to see that change can happen when one person steps forward to bring one idea forward.”

We are happy to support unique initiatives like the Kindness Meters and we are proud and appreciative of the partnership we have with Dawson Creek, its businesses and its people.
