Meet Cristi Adams: ‘I’m proud to be an Indigenous employee'

TransCanada employee Cristi Adams has been involved in our diversity and inclusion initiatives for more than ten years.

Cristi Adams loves getting involved in the community. It's as much in her DNA as the Indigenous heritage she proudly claims.

For more than a decade, Adams, who works in TransCanada's Calgary office, has been working to foster diversity both within and outside of the company.

"HR and diversity initiatives are a hobby of mine," said Adams, who works in TransCanada's Canadian gas operations department.

"I love making a contribution, whether it's helping people individually or driving systemic change within the community or various organizations," she added.

Adams has been working at TransCanada since 2001 and has been involved in our diversity and inclusion initiatives since 2003. She's also spent nearly ten years working with Calgary City Council on Indigenous issues.

"I provide an Indigenous voice on consultation, land development, reconciliation and a variety of other municipal issues," explained Adams, a member of the Lake Babine Nation in northern B.C.

She says her job in Canadian gas operations is an "easy fit" with her passions and her heritage.

"Many have asked whether being Indigenous and working for oil and gas is a conflict," Adams said. "But TransCanada is a great company to work for. [The company] is fantastic at meaningful consultation, engagement and environmental protection."
