Sept. 15 was chosen as the kickoff of Hispanic Heritage Month because it coincides with the Independence Day celebrations of five Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico’s independence is celebrated Sept. 16 and Chile celebrates on Sept. 18.
This year, Elizabeth Garza, one of our long-time team members who works as a GIS analyst mapping lead, shared her story. Born in Tampico, Mexico, Elizabeth studied engineering before getting married and moving to Canada, where she raised a family. Elizabeth stayed connected to her home country by passing on traditions to her children and playing an important role at work in the development of TC Energy in Mexico.
