Caring for Kids Radiothon
At TC Energy, giving back is part of our DNA. On Feb. 5, our people participated in the Caring for Kids radiothon, an annual event that fundraisers for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (ACHF). This foundation invests in excellence in child health, research and family centred care at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and this event plays a big role in achieving the goals of the foundation.
Our workplace giving program, Empower, enables our people to give back to the causes they care about by providing matching dollars for their donations and volunteer rewards for those who spend time giving back to their communities.
In 2019, members of our Supply Chain team came together to fundraise for the ACHF. Inspired by their colleague, who has had to rely on the Alberta Children’s Hospital services, the team organized a fundraising campaign to support this world-class facility.
After an incredible fundraiser, the team was able to purchase a new MEDi robot. Invigorated by the idea that they could really make a difference, our workforce once again joined forces in 2020 to raise money for the hospital and this time resulted in over $60,000 raised for the ACHF.
With the radiothon match, the total amount that will be going to support the ACHF is just over $125,000. These funds will support the greatest needs of the hospital and help all the children and families who rely on this facility every day.
The Empower program has been a driving force for positive change in the lives of our people and the communities they serve since 2013. Each year we see our people’s generosity continue to grow – in 2019, our people donated over $3M to communities across North America.
