Eastern Panhandle Expansion Project

EASTERN PANHANDLE EXPANSION PROJECT

Power icon
A proposed natural Gas project

TC Energy’s Columbia Gas Transmission system is a cornerstone of reliability, delivering natural gas to hundreds of communities across the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Appalachia. This extensive network ensures that the heat stays on and businesses stay powered, even when demand spikes.

To help support further economic growth in the Eastern Panhandle region of West Virginia, we are developing the Eastern Panhandle Expansion project. Once complete, this new pipeline will provide more than 47 million cubic feet per day of reliable, clean burning natural gas to meet the energy needs of homes and businesses in Morgan County.

The Eastern Panhandle Expansion Project will require approximately 3.4 miles (5.4 km) of 8-inch diameter pipeline, beginning at interconnections with two existing TCO pipelines in Fulton County, Pennsylvania. It will extend through Washington County, Maryland, to a point of delivery with the local distribution company, Mountaineer Gas Company, in Morgan County, West Virginia.

Community benefits

Our projects offer long-term economic benefits and help strengthen local, state and national economies in key areas:

Employment and business opportunities As we move into the construction phase of our projects, we require equipment operators, welders, mechanics, truck drivers, laborers and more. This not only increases the demand for local goods and services, but also promotes economic growth in the community. Learn more about how to work with us through our Contractors, Suppliers and Vendors portal.

Annual revenue to support local services — Project construction results in tax payments to all levels of government. Once operational, our projects continue to provide annual tax payments that play a crucial role in funding essential community services. These contributions help support local schools, hospitals, emergency services, and other vital programs that enhance the well-being and development of our communities.

Supporting local communities — Through our social impact program, Build Strong, we invest in causes and organizations that are vital to our communities and our business. Whether we are providing grants, awarding scholarships to future energy problem solvers or supporting local events that bring community members together, our goal is to help build strong, vibrant communities. Visit TCEnergy.com/BuildStrong to learn more about our social impact program and how to apply for funding.

Horizontal Directional Drilling

TC Energy uses horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and other construction practices to minimize our construction footprint and environmental impact during pipeline construction. Learn more about how the Eastern Panhandle Expansion Project will utilize this process:
