NGTL Abandonment Program (2025)

NGTL GP is proposing to permanently cease operations at 35 meter stations and 27 lateral pipelines, loops and/or producer tie-ins on the NGTL System within Alberta as these facilities are no longer necessary to provide service to customers. This process, defined by the Canada Energy Regulatory (CER) as abandonment, is a critical step in insuring we manage our pipeline assets safely and responsibly throughout their lifecycle. As operations will be permanently ceased and service will be discontinued on these facilities, NGTL GP will file an abandonment application pursuant to Section 241(1) of the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, and Section 50 of the Canadian Energy Regulatory Onshore Pipeline Regulations for the facilities in the second quarter of 2025. Please view the Abandonment fact sheet for more information.
