Approved West Path Delivery 2023 Project will help meet growing North America energy demand
TC Energy is pleased that the Government of Canada has approved the NOVA Gas Transmission Limited (NGTL) West Path Delivery 2023 Project, part of the West Path Delivery Program, after a robust assessment by the Canada Energy Regulator (CER).
“Our expansion programs are an important and integral part in bringing on additional natural gas pipeline capacity to meet growing demand across North America and globally as we work to support energy transition and energy security needs,” said Greg Grant, President, Canadian Natural Gas Pipelines, TC Energy.
This approval follows TC Energy’s 2022 Investor Day, where we outlined our strategy to leverage and grow our highly integrated network.
“Our natural gas network spans the entirety of North America unlike any other company,” said Francois Poirier, President and Chief Executive Officer, TC Energy. “We can move gas from Northeast British Columbia, and when Southeast Gateway is completed, all the way down to the Yucatan Peninsula. No other company can deliver that type of service.”
Next steps:
- West Path Delivery NGTL 2023 Project construction is scheduled to begin in early 2023.
- Work is anticipated to be complete in November 2023.
About the West Path Delivery Program:
- With a $1.2 billion investment, the West Path Delivery Program will add approximately 119 kilometres of natural gas pipeline to both the NGTL and Foothills pipeline systems.
- The projects within West Path Delivery Program will help meet demand in key export markets in the U.S. and enhance market access for Canadian natural gas.
- NGTL 2022 Projects went into service earlier this year.
- West Path Delivery Program investment in the Nuqpu Native Plant Nursery will see Whitebark Pine seedlings planted along our project routes beginning in 2025.
